Melvyn Douglas and Virginia Bruce star as
a university doctor and a famous author who
present themselves as husband and wife although
they are not. Each has a selfish reason for
doing so. The show is interrupted once for
news update from New York by John Daly.

John Daly from New York reports that there
have been six raids in the Philippines since
the war began. Japanese now control Guam and
Wake islands. Almost 300 American planes have
been destroyed. Air raid preparations on the
West Coast are well underway. All San Francisco
radio stations are off the air. 50 unidentified
planes have been sighted flying from the southwest
toward San Francisco. FDR will speak in a
fireside chat tomorrow night. Lend-Lease will
continue. Washington issues a statement condemning
Germany. American recruiting offices report
being swamped with enlistments. |
