1). Diplomatic
and military activity in Europe awaits Hitler's
speech to the Reichstag on Friday (October 6)
in which he will lay down his terms of peace.
Tomorrow Hitler will enter Warsaw. Mussolini also
has an offer but will wait to see what becomes
of Hitler's. Even in Berlin there's no expectation
that the allies will accept Hitler's offer. The
allies will likely want more of a guarantee than
just Hitler's word. Germany will attack if the
offer is rejected. The German airforce will be
in position by the weekend on the Western front.
2). Congress
took up the neutrality bill again. Language in
the bill could label much of the world as combat
zones, making them illegal for America to conduct
trade there.
