Some time ago Oreo cookies sponsored a Caucasian Barbie doll. Eager to capitalize on its success, they next produced this African American Barbie. While the item likely did not intend to be racist, it is amazing to consider that not one person in the corporate chain-of-command considered the common knowledge that the word Oreo is a derogatory term for an African American person who acts like, sympathizes with, or dates/marries, whites (like an Oreo cookie: black on the outside, white on the inside). To call an African American on Oreo is akin to calling him an Uncle Tom).
