Here is an example of of interleague
play as it was over 65 years ago, played in old Comiskey
Park with an announcing team of George Watson and
Hal Totten. This is the second game of the series.
In the early days of what was called the "City
Series", it was played at the same time as the
World Series (except those few times in the 1930s
when the Cubs were able to make it to the World Series).
The White Sox never had to contend with a World Series
appearance after the "Black Sox" scandal
of 1919 until towards the end of the OTR era in 1959.
[The complete
game is available in the Donations
section]
This broadcast is actually
a combination of two home recordings. The play-by-play
itself was on one Chicago station (WCFL), and the
postgame show was on another (WENR) immediately after
the game. The sound quality is not the best but definitely
listenable for those with any interest.
