Tarzan is now considered to be the first major syndicated serial. It somewhat follows the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs novel Tarzan of The Apes, the story of an English infant raised by apes after his parents were killed. By chapter 4 Tarzan was grown and the story began. The serial ran 286 episode and was well received, but in 1934 Burroughs declined to renew it.
