The Jack Benny Program was born out of the vaudeville era in 1932. Over time it would evolve into the most important comedy radio show of all time, lasting until 1958. The show is still today considered to be one of the best ever, and Jack Benny is still endeared to the hearts of millions, forever a part of popular culture.

Benny's on-stage persona was a vain, miserly, argumentative man, but he had a big heart. He often treated his Negro valet, Rochester, poorly, yet often Rochester got the better of Benny as well. Benny often have away the good lines to the other characters, setting himself up for the comedic insult. In time, this technique made Benny one of the most beloved personalities ever. This show is the very first Jack Benny Program, from 1932. There would be twenty-six years of shows to follow.
